MDRA Awards Nominations

Every year the MDRA presents the following awards to recognize the help provided by the many volunteers who make Metcalfe ringette happen: The Irene Corkill Award, Thompson Cup and Jim Meloy Award recipients are chosen based on nominations from the community.

Let's celebrate the outstanding volunteers who help create a positive impact in MDRA! We encourage you to submit a nomination and share the inspiring stories of those who go above and beyond to make a difference. We hope to present the awards at the MDRA banquet on March 27.

If you would like to nominate an individual for one of these awards, please review the criteria below and use the link to submit your nomination(s) by Friday, March 20, 2026.

Note: Nominations are not to be made by immediate family members (spouses or parents).

Award Categories

Irene Corkill Spirit Award

The Irene Corkill Award goes to a U19 or U16 player who has demonstrated their commitment to the sport by giving back to the association.

Thompson Cup

The Thompson Cup is awarded to any volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to the association during one or more seasons.

Jim Meloy Award (Coach of the Year)

The Jim Meloy Award goes to a coach who presents a positive role model for coaching and demonstrates concern for the all around development of the players to develop confidence, self-discipline and respect.

Bob Robb Award (President’s Award - not open to nominations)

The Bob Robb Award goes to a member of the MDRA executive for service above and beyond. The recipient of this award is chosen by the MDRA president.
