2021-2022 Registration Fees


Due to the uncertainty of COVID and the restrictions that may be imposed, the fees below are an estimate and will be adjusted in September should it be necessary.

Registration is to be completed in RAMP.

Should your player be interested in playing at the competitive level, please indicate their interest in attending tryouts by registering with the “Competitive Package”.

NOTE:  U14, U16 and U19 players planning on attending Competitive tryouts must also complete the ERRA Competitive Tryout Registration.

A deposit is required to finalize registration 

  • $325 (for Fun 2 and up)

* Early Bird fee applies those who have registered and paid the deposit by July 25, 2021

Discounts/Rebates Offered:

  • First Time Player Discount: $100 (not applicable to Fun 1 registrations and cannot be combined with the family discount)
  • Family Discount: Families with 3 or more players pay full registration fee for the first 2 players and may deduct $50 from the registration fee for each additional child
  • Goalie Rebate: $150 (for full time goalies at U12 and up.  Rebate is issued at the end of the season)

PLEASE NOTE:  We will base our ice needs on the registrations received by July 25.  Those registering after July 25 may be in jeopardy of not being placed on a team if the association does not have ice to support more registrations.

 

Frequently Asked Questions:

I have a credit left with the association from last year.  How will that be applied?

All credits have been applied in the RAMP system and will be visible when you check out which you can apply to your deposit.  Please note that the remainder of the fees due in September will be $350 for early bird (registered and paid for by July 25th) and $375 for regular registration for Fun 2 and up.  Fun 1 players will owe $150 in September.

Why have the fees been increased compared to the last regular season?

MDRA has not raised registration fees for a number of years, yet ice costs have increased dramatically.  In the last regular season (2019-2020), the association operated at a deficit.  To keep the association financially stable, a fee increase was needed.

Why has the refund policy changed?

When the refund policy was last updated, the association was able to return ice to the city with 10 business days notice.  Since that time, the city’s refund policy has changed and the association must commit to the ice contracts as of August 1st.  Given that the association must make a commitment and pay for those ice contracts, it is necessary to have a commitment from players in order to keep the association financially stable.

Why is MDRA only releasing “estimated” fees at this time?

The executive wanted to give players/guardians an idea of what registration fees might look like and wanted to release those to the membership.  Given the uncertainty of COVID and what restrictions the association may be operating under, the executive reserves the right to adjust fees in September to reflect the true cost of operating this season.  The estimated fees are based on a regular season and the times allotted to each team.  Should there be restrictions to the number of players allowed on the ice at one time, the fees may be increased or players may see a decrease in ice times.

Will there be any refunds issued this year?

As per the refund policy, no refunds will be issued this year.  The executive reserves the right to deal with refund requests on a case by case basis for players who withdraw for medical reasons or for extenuating circumstances.  Should the city cancel our ice contract, refunded monies will be divided amongst registered players.

What will this season look like?

It is our hope to operate as normal of a year as possible.  Based on the directives by Ringette Ontario, a period of conditioning will be provided to all registered players prior to tryouts, sort outs and team formation.  Our expectation is that this conditioning period will be 2-3 weeks in length with 2 ice times per week.  After which we will begin tryouts and sort outs.  The timelines for tryouts will be set by Eastern Region and communicated as soon as we know more.

I heard that the competitive structure is changing.  Where can I find that information?

What is the difference between Fun 1 and Fun 2?

Fun 1 (formally bunnies) will be offered once a week and focus primarily on skating and skill development.  This program generally starts in October.
 
Fun 2 (formally U8) will be offered as a team and participate in approximately one practice and one game per week.  This program generally starts in September with the rest of the teams in the association.

I live within MDRA boundaries, but played as an out-of-association player last season.  Where should I register?

Any player who has played for the same association for 2 consecutive years is considered fully released and that association is now considered their home association.  For reference, you can have a look at the Eastern Region policy on player movement.

However, last season (2020-2021) does not count towards those 2 seasons.
